Buenos Aires, Feb 12 (NA) -- Amid criticism for the heavy defeat against Tigre and the irregular results the team has been dragging since last season, Argentinos Juniors coach Marcelo Gallardo was publicly praised by former President Alberto Fernández, a confessed fan of 'El Bicho'.
'Frankly, I believe he is one of the best coaches in Argentina, if not the best,' stated Fernández.
'They are kids, but they are already heroes,' he pointed out.
Fernández added that in sport, 'a bit of luck' is always necessary and analyzed the current situation of Argentinos Juniors: 'We have been up and down, we lost to Midland, we beat Sarmiento in the last minute. Winning is very hard for us.'
In addition to supporting River Plate's coach, the former president also praised Nicolás Diez, the current coach of 'El Bicho': 'He is a very good coach, he is faithful to the style of Argentinos and he likes to play football, he doesn't dirty the game.'
'He has a football logic that I endorse, he plays the football that I like,' Fernández concluded.
'I admire and respect him a lot,' affirmed Fernández in dialogue with El Destape, which was able to be compiled by the Argentine News Agency. The former head of state, honorary member of Argentinos Juniors, expressed his desire for the 'Muñeco' to reverse his present, although with a caveat: 'I would like him to change the bad streak, but after he plays with us. During a video call from his home, the former leader of the Justicialist Party also highlighted Gallardo's ability to enhance young players and mentioned the cases of Julián Álvarez and Franco Mastantuono for their time at River and their international projections.
